Welcome to the USS Galileo

Welcome to the USS Galileo. A Nova Class vessel in the Obsidian Fleet in Task Force 47: Group A, The Musketeers! If you have any questions you may contact me, Diana Stark, the Commanding Officer of USS Galileo: Click Here.

The year is 2385, the Dominion war is past, the Federation strives to move on to their goals of exploration and discovery. As a survey vessel, Galileo has a unique role in this new era.

Our namesake, Galileo, did many wondrous and dangerous things. He followed what his heart told him to do: never deny what we know to be true. O'course he did get put under house arrest by the Pope. Luckily, nowadays the Pope can only shake a finger at us so we're golden. Maybe.

If you're here it means that you're looking to tell a story. Big guns don't interest you as much as the Federation and Starfleet's mission -- To seek out new life and new civilizations.

Our motto is Inventas vitam iuvat excoluisse per artes which is simply stated as "Let us improve life through science and art." That sums up SIMming on Galileo perfectly and what we ultimately strive to attain--the blending of art and science.

The mission of USS Galileo, while seemingly lacking in austerity and grandeur is about opportunity. Sector Alpha 2178.22, a heretofore un-named and uncatalogued sector that intersects the Alpha and Beta quadrants must be surveyed. While Starfleet has passed through, circumnavigated, and possibly even taken a brief pit stop, no one has been given the dubious distinction of checking every nook and cranny of every rock floating in its huge expanse. Until now.

This could take a while.

Wanted: Assistant positions need filling. Imaginative players of a scientific mind are in need. If you don't care about being chief but want to simply write with excellent award winning people -- join today. If you don't see what you want, email me and we can discuss position options.

Curate ut valeatis,

Captain Diana Stark
Obsidian Fleet CO of the Year 2007

Vote for USS Galileo!

Salvete!

One year! We made it through ONE YEAR! Not without casualties but hey... we're a tough bunch and we can take it. We're a family. That being said... even families have rules.

The warning went out. Gosh I hate to be a bad guy on this but some of the old crew has relegated to NPC. I'm sorry but when I see that last login was... x MONTHS ago... it's time to move on. There ARE exceptions and those have been pre-cleared with me.

Take a look at the report and see what needs to be done this in the next 10 days. It will also give you a synopsis of where we are in the story.

No, I'm not giving up on this plot, we worked too hard on it, it's got great stories yet for all to tell. I know it's my own work that needs to be analyzed and how much of it has been taking away from this ship. But it's real life.

Remember, real life does take prescedence. If you need an LOA or an ELOA tell me or Jenaria in PM. Put yourself on LOA. Please don't abuse that LOA button. If you're not around and not responding even after 7 days to a simple message, then we can remove you after a reasonable time waiting for your LOA to end.

Yuk, I hate talking like that.

Please note, that we're actually getting new crew! Yes, we are! We will be back on that Hot Tamale Train! Sorry, I've watched way too much So You Think You Can Dance.

Now, me hearties! YO HO! On we go.

Of note, the fleet saw fit to promote me but I am NOT taking that IC yet. We need to work that into the plot.

III Mission Summary Report

=.\= Location: In Paulinus Sector Orbiting Planet Cestagna =.\=

=.\= Ship Status: Blue =.\=

This week on Star Trek: Galileo

Reporting: Stark

Mission briefing:

Captain Stark receives orders to leave her mapping once again behind and head to the Paulinus Sector to aid a crew of scientists at an orbiting science station.

The station is observing a pre-industrial era world in, what would appear to be, an era akin to the era of exploration. Large masted vessels sail the seas manned by navys and merchants as well as bucaneers hired by sly nation leaders to hide their double dealing in the spice trades. A scientist from among their group was sent to collect data and samples and has not been heard from orther than his parting words of, "It's a simpler life... Oh! I long for the sea" before what sounded like his tossing his communicator into the drink -- there was a distinct splash. We are to attempt locating this errant scientist and bring him back to justice before he contaminates the development of this humanoid species.

So far in our story...

This week on Starship Galileo...

The crew left for Paulinus and is now in orbit surveying the situation. There was discussion amongst the crew as to how best to go about retrieving both Beryllium and Lt Commander Dorian Bugler -- the scientist gone buccaneer. Heck, we don't even know if he's on the high seas. He might be somewhere farming or trapping or whatnot. In the meantime, security is attempting to put together a plan to create a ship. The specs of which are entirely up to Engineering who might have something to say about using the Galileo's power to replicate a tallship.

Science's Lachlan couldn't decide if she wants to head out on the sea or safari to either find the scientist or the Beryllium... her mind- racing to combine the two-finally decides on the Beryllium team.

In the meantime, Diana has ordered her diplomat to grow his hair. Eran seems to be suffering some mild side effects, including becoming far more dashing and catching the eye of a few of the crew.

Our bartender joined the act and is now poised to join the AT to discover where there might be a Bugler.

Jenaria and her team went down to the surface and were not greeted very cordially. In fact, they were downright rude. No matter, Jen's a wrecking ball and got what she came for. Dr. Scientia gained some valuable information from the medical team already there.

Ship was ship shape eventually and just a few finishing touches are needed on it while Raul was left in charge of it until Eran could return. Lambada lessons anyone?

Davin and Stark finally has their babies -- bouncing boy named Yale Indio Stark and Raina Davin. Where's the pressies?

Salvete Galileans,

Welcome to the quick-n-dirty version of the Mission Report.

a. The reason so short? Well, the last time I did a report too long ago
b. It will go too long again if I keep trying to make a full blown report

So what are you all to do?

1. Contact me via PM in the next 48 hours to make sure I know you're still active. If you fail to report, you haven't posted in two weeks more and you're not on LOA you will be dropped from the roster.
2. When you contact me, report any JPs you have in the works that need to be worked on and who else was involved in it. I want to get a full rundown on who's holding what up.

I don't know how the complacency started but it's ending now. Get back to one post a week minima. We have a plot to work on. If you do get posts up, I will make sure the weekly MR becomes a functioning part of this SIM again. Until then, I have very little to report about.

Most importantly, this is a SIM that's been a source of great solace for many. It's been inspiring for others and it's been the touchstone of esprit de corps for this Task Group and Force... We have excellent writers, so let's get writing!

Commodore Diana Stark

Salvete!
Well, we're back underway, albeit a little slowly but I'm not complaining! I've spoken to nearly all the players and there are quite a few JPs in the queue.

Changes this week -- Goodness, our security officer changed sexes but not orientation. Katani is now Kerano! Welcome back our irksome Ratty, Lieutenant JG Rat'tanA and her bouncing d'k tagh weilding baby girl, Karenka.

As school winds down our Uni folks embroiled in their Ph.d's and other bits are back and ready to help out again.

If you have not contacted me since my last message, please do so or put yourself on LOA.

Contact me via email/PM for questions as my chat time is limited with the sunny weather!

And it case you were wondering... it's "beryllium"

The captain and her XO have made the rounds, promoted the hard working crew and gotten the ship to kick it out to the Paulinus sector. Planning is nearing an end as we approach the Paulinus system and the Lowell class research base located below the deep waters on the planet.

Salvete!
I'm back, I promise. Quarter is done at work and I have a few projects in the hopper but it won't keep me too busy.

As some of you know, there has been tragedy in my family and I've been nursing the hurt ones and those that need me.

However, I sim for my sanity and I need this.

So, in the next twenty-four hours you will be deluged with JPs to get this mission started. Shawn and Gnos will be very active and keeping their fingers in this mission planning pie because of the fact that my life can go upside-down at any second.

So, if you can't find me, get Gnos (Jenaria) or Shawn (Sykes) to tell you what to do, where to go (though with Gnos I'd watch that question a bit) and how to get there.

This mission is about buccaneers, a scientist gone native, and other oddball bits. If you want an NPC part for the planet or SEE one that could be useful, let us (the team) know.

I'm trying to be less minutiae oriented and to trust you guys to get some ideas in the pot this time. This one isn't about Jaynie's plan, it's about the team.

Yus, there will be Sphenis awards. I'm trying to find the penguins to put on your ribbons!

Galileo Update...

Category: Simm Announcement
Greetings all,

We’re going to get things moving again. Expanding on what Jaynie had written about in her last news item, we’re going through a little time jump. We will be starting back up with a crew-wide log that takes place six months from our current time. There will be a party (held in Ms. Connelly’s if she has no objections  ) celebrating the finish of our mission at Sphenis. Yes, we’ve been here for six months and things have been wrapped up. How, will be up to you. I would ask if each player determines how their character has spent this time and where they are now in their character’s development. This is pretty much what Jaynie had asked of you in the last mission report.

We will be finishing off the week with this log and then starting up next week with a regular logging schedule. Look for the log starter shortly.

So let’s get back into the swing of things and get those creative juices flowing!

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.

Gnos/Jenaria
